LOOMIS, Dr. Richard G., Sr., Ph.D., age 79, of Grand Blanc and Boca Raton, FL, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at his daughters residence on Lake Fenton. Â A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 am Friday, September 19, 2003, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 6494 S. Belsay Rd., Grand Blanc, Dr. Max Hayden officiating. Â Military Honors will be performed under the auspices of VFW Curtis Wolverton Post #3243. Â The family will receive friends from 10 am. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Â Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Dr. Loomis's name to Genesys Hospice. Â Dr. Loomis was born March 1, 1924 in Big Rapids, MI, the son of Glenn and Anna (Healey) Loomis and was a long time resident of Grand Blanc, having moved to Boca Raton, FL after his retirement. Â He married Donna Gotts who preceded him in death in 1995. Â Dr. Loomis was a graduate of Traverse City High School, earned Eagle Scout honors, graduated from C.M.U., earned his Ph.D. from Rockwell University and was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. Â Dr. Loomis was a former principal of the Genesee Area Skill Center and was instrumental in it's formulation and development. Â He was a past member of the Kiwanis and was active at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Grand Blanc and Congregational Church of Boca Raton having served on many committees. Â Dr. Loomis dedicated his life to education, helping other people, was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and acquired a passion for tennis. Â Dr. Loomis is survived by son Richard G. Loomis Jr. of Otter Lake; daughter Linda Roll and husband Rocky of Lake Fenton; grandchildren Richard J., Nicole, Thomas, Kerry, Kathryn, and Stephen; great grandchildren Cody, Tommy, Lance, William, Kyla, A.J., Thomas, Andrew, Megan and Karys; sister in law Betty Loomis of Fredericksburg, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
