Richard Murphy

Murphy, Richard L- Age 62 of Gwinn, died August 14, 2017. Services will be held 3:30PM Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Visitation will be held from 1:30PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Richard was born July 11, 1955 in Flint, MI, the son of Delmar (Bill) and Ruth Murphy. He graduated from Linden High School and served in the United States Marines from 1974-1978 and then in the National Guard. He worked for the auto industry as a graphic designer. Upon retirement, Richard moved to the U.P. where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and reloading. Richard is survived by his sons, Shawn, Evan (Renee); daughter, Jessica (Michael) Chevalier of Marquette; grandchildren, Harleigh Murphy, Brendan and Lillian Chevalier; brothers, Steve (Annette), Ray (Sue), Robert (Dana), Dennis (Kathy); sister, Karen (Jim) Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents. "Murf" how he was often referred, had a caring heart and was always more than willing to help those in need.
