Richard Austin McGrath III

McGrath III, Richard Austin - Age 82, of Grand Blanc, died on May 31, 2024. The interment will take place 9:00 AM Friday, August 2, 2024  at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd. Holly, MI. Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc, MI, will be providing arrangements. Richard was born in Detroit on April 24, 1942, to Richard Austin McGrath Jr. and Pauline (Tackels) McGrath. Growing up, he enjoyed spending his summers at Lost Lake Woods in Lincoln, MI, with his maternal grandparents, where he cultivated his lifelong love of nature and wildlife, especially birds. He graduated from Berkley High School and later Adrian College. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a lieutenant commander and naval aviator, flying supplies overseas during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post #413 in Grand Blanc. His family and friends can attest that he always knew the best route to get you where you needed to go. Richard took great pride in his family and is survived by his wife, Cynthia; children, Richard Austin McGrath IV, Casey (Matt) Busch, Joshua (Krissy) Runion; grandchildren, Richard Austin McGrath V, Nora McGrath, Jordyn Runion, and Taylor Runion; siblings, Diane Graham, Marcia Ostrander, Dr. David Graham, Kathryn McGrath, and Michael McGrath.
