Richard Donald Maurer

MAURER, Richard Donald - age 82, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, January 01, 2007 at Kith Haven after a long illness. Cremation will take place and private family services will be held. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Mr. Maurer was born December 2, 1924 in Flint, the son of William and Veronica (Beck) Maurer. He attended Flint Central High School and Dort Tech. Mr. Maurer was a veteran of Word War II serving in the Merchant Marines. He married Beverly Ernestine Benz on May 3, 1952 in Flint. Mr. Maurer retired from Clio Public Schools in 1986 as a Transportation Supervisor. He was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church. Mr. Maurer loved animals, cars and was an avid outdoorsman. Surviving are: wife, Beverly E. of Swartz Creek; two sons, Daniel John Maurer and wife, Sherry of Swartz Creek, Timothy James Maurer and wife, Beth of Flushing; daughter, Kathryn Ann Dodge of Swartz Creek; three grandchildren, Amber and husband, Shandon Claspell of Owosso, Aaron Maurer of Swartz Creek, Joseph Dodge of Swartz Creek; two great-grandchildren, Royce and Emma; many nieces and nephews.
