Richard Knoop

KNOOP, Richard Arthur - age 91, of Fenton, died July 11, 2021. Richard was born March 23, 1930 in Jackson, the son of Arthur A. and Clarabel (Walters) Knoop. He attended Jackson Community College, obtained his Bachelor’s at Central Michigan University and achieved his master’s degree in education from the University of Michigan. Richard married Patricia Sue Williams on June 19, 1954 and enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage. After starting his career at Lake Fenton schools, he became a teacher and principal in the Carman Ainsworth School District retiring in 1990 after 37 years of service. Dick loved his job and approached leaving for work every day as if he was headed to a party. Richard was a member of Fenton United Methodist Church for over 60 years and Fenton Farms Golf Club, playing golf there for many years with Pat and their friends. He enjoyed boating on Lake Fenton and was a huge fan of Frank Sinatra and the Mills Brothers. Dick liked playing cards, traveling, and watching college basketball and the Detroit Tigers. In fact, his love affair with the Tigers has infected the whole family - and they are all huge fans. Surviving are: wife, Patricia Knoop; two children, Todd Knoop of Tucson, AZ and Tracy Knoop of Fort Worth, TX; three grandchildren, Chelsea Knoop, Phoebe Markwood, Joshua Markwood; and sister, Joan Samon. He was preceded in death by: brother, Bud Knoop and daughter, Tricia Knoop Markwood. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430.
