Richard Thomas KAUERTZ

KAUERTZ, Richard Thomas - age 75, of Grand Blanc, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at his residence. Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Tuesday and 1-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family. Mr. Kauertz was born July 31, 1936 in Flint, the son of Theodore and Thelma (Ramsey) Kauertz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. MR. Kauertz retired from General Motors in 1992 after 38 years of service and was a member of UAW Local # 659. He was active in the Swartz Creek Lions Club, Old News Boys of Flint, United Way and American Red Cross. Mr. Kauertz also was an avid fan of Detroit Sports. Surviving are: wife, Antoinette; 2 daughters, Leslie Matthess and Linda (Tim) Cherny; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie Matthess (Jason Schellenberg), Steven and Nicole Cherny; great-granddaughter, Zoey Schellenberg; sister, Barbara Edwards; brother, Donald Smith.
