HYDE, Richard E. "Rick" - age 68, of Columbus, OH, passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Mayfair Village Nursing Care Center in Columbus, OH. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Chaplain Hank Messing officiating. Interment will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kindred Hospice, 540 Officecenter Place, Suite 100, Gahanna, OH 43230, who treated Rick with such kindness and compassion during his last days. Rick was born February 26, 1949 in Paragould, Arkansas, the son of Ronald and Grace (Shewmaker) Hyde. He was well loved and will be missed by all. Rick grew up in Walled Lake, MI where he was an All-State wrestler. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War. Rick moved to Columbus, OH and became an assistant wrestling coach at Columbus Walnut Ridge High School. He was retired from Honda of America. Rick is survived by: his brothers Rob (Janet) Hyde and Randy (Mary) Hyde; nephews and niece, Jacob, Justin, Jonathan and Michelle; special friends, Howard and Kathy Heath and John and Louann Miller; and his second family from Macedonia, Dimche and Verica Krninova-lovingly called Baba and Dedo; Damjan, Alexsandra and Galeb Gruev; and Katerina Hiles.
