Richard Hughes

HUGHES, Richard George- Age 86, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday September 3, 2020. Visitation only will be held 12PM to 3PM Sunday, September 6th at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Richard was born May 31, 1934 in Bay City, the son of John George and Pearl (Barnes) Hughes. He married Thelma Gladys Irene Wilhite in Flint on May 30, 1953 and she preceded him in death on January 29, 2011. Richard retired from General Motors in 1988 with 32 years of service.He also worked for Ketzler's Florist, delivering flowers for 7 years and many years at Sports Creek Raceway. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Swartz Creek and enjoyed fishing, bowling,square dancing and watching boxing. Surviving are: children, Ricky D. (Debbie) Hughes of Flint, Cindy C. Bombe of Flint, Richard W. (Debbie) Hughes of Flint, Penny K. (Jim) Neddermeyer of Durand, Tracy L. Hughes of Burton, Marcy S. (Delmar) Eddy of Flint, Amy M. (James) Deloney of Flint; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pearl; wife, Thelma and 2 brothers.
