HOWE, Richard Demund "Dick" - Age 69, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Pastor Dale Swihart officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Genesee County Humane Society, Avalon Hospice or Alzheimer's Association. Dick was born February 18, 1941 in Holly, the son of Delwin Demund and Mae Irene (Richards) Howe. He was a 1959 graduate of Holly High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from GM Fisher Body after 30 years of service. Dick had resided in Grand Blanc and Holly his entire life. He was a member of the U.A.W., Loyal Order of Moose Holly Lodge #1168 and Holly American Legion Post #149. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. Surviving are: step-mother, Amanda "Grace" Howe of Holly; 2 step-sisters, Shirley Cook of Holly and Marcella (Conrad) Diatchun of White Lake; special friends, Karen and Delno Murphy of Gaines; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-sister, Margaret Bannon. Online tributes may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
