HOWCROFT, Richard -- Age 90, of Fenton, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, Rev. Audrey Charlton will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to Avalon Hospice. Richard was born June 15, 1914 in Detroit, MI, the son of John and Martha (Richter) Howcroft. He was married to Elanor Malen on January 22, 1944 in Plymouth. Mr. Howcroft was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving in WWII. He was a past member of The Elks and Fenton V.F.W. Post #3243. He was also a member of Myron H. Beals American Legion Post #32 and Michigan Farm Bureau. Mr. Howcroft retired from Ford Motor Company in 1977. He had lived in the Fenton-Linden area since 1977, spending winters in Mesa, AZ. Surviving are: wife, Elanor; daughter, Linda and husband Olin Rikard of Fenton; granddaughter, Sandy and husband Mark Sage of Linden; three step-grandchildren, Cindy Evans of Troy, TN, Tami Conner, Stacie Rikard both of Westland; great-grandchildren, Nick and Megan Sage; six step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Howcroft. The family wishes to thank the entire Avalon Hospice staff for their wonderful loving care and kindness.
