HORNING, Richard H. "Bud" - Age 83, a long-time resident of Fenton and Sebring, FL, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Fr. Roy Horning officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Livingston County or the American Cancer Society. Bud was born the son of Richard R. and Esther M. (Smith) Horning on August 23, 1928 in Montrose. He was united in marriage to Donna Dee Francisco on September 11, 1948. Bud began his career as owner and operator of Culligan Soft Water in Port Huron and was also Vice President at Flint Asphalt for ten years. He was well-known in the Genesee County area for his work in the construction industry and, in 1973, founded R.H. Horning & Sons Excavating and Grading, proudly employing all three of his sons and two grandsons. He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed traveling as well as spending the winter months at his home in Sebring, FL. Bud leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Donna; 3 sons, Richard II of Fenton, Greg (Deborah) of Georgia, and Brent (Jan) of Fenton; grandchildren, Joe (Corrie) of Illinois, Amber of Fenton, Leah of Linden, Jeff of Fenton, Kyle (Rebecca) and Lauren Barlett of Georgia; great grandchildren, Zack, Josh, Hope, Emma and Mason, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
