Richard Holtje

Holtje, Richard Walter - Age 76, of Grand Blanc, died August 22, 2017 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6481 Fausett Rd. Howell, Fr. Gregg Pleiness celebrant. Visitation will be held 5-8PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd, Fenton, with Rosary at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held from 10 AM until time of mass on Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Richard was born April 29, 1941, the son of Richard and Florence (Walter) Holtje. Richard grew up in New Jersey, moved to Houston, Texas where he worked for NASA. Following retirement, he moved to Michigan. He was active with the Fenton Village Players, an avid supporter of Renaissance Festival where he participated as a Cardinal. Richard was gregarious, loved people, was a practical joker, and an Eagle Scout. Richard is survived by his long time loving companion, Gale Lake; children, Scott Barton (Julie) Holtje, Dawn Denise (Mike) Jones; grandchildren, Haley, Haden, Spencer and Ella Grace; sister, Judith DeRadd (William Connor); nephew, Michael Stewart Rhodes; niece, Jennifer Rhodes Noble; special family friends, Scott DeRaad, Jeanne Fox, Laik Mahler, Kristee Mahler.
