Richard Earl HEIL

HEIL, Richard Earl, age 71, of Fenton, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton Pastor Jacob Ouellette officiating. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 12 p.m. Saturday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Fenton Adopt-A-Pet or Eastern Michigan Food Bank. Richard was born January 7, 1939 in Detroit, the son of the late Glenn Emerson and Olive Lulu (Senker) Heil. He was a graduate of Rochester High School. Richard married Christine Dawson August 26, 1977 in Clarkston and they moved to Fenton in 1990. He was the owner and operator of Dick Heil Building Maintenance until his retirement in 2002. Richard was a hardworking man, who liked to stay busy working on the cabin up north. He enjoyed cooking after retirement and his wonderful brownies will be missed by all. Richard was a courageous man, who recently endured many difficult medical treatments without complaint, or indication of discomfort. More than anything, Richard loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed dearly and loved forever. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Christine; 11 children, Robin Jarret ( Bill), Richard E. Heil Jr. (Debbie), Charles Heil (Diane), Stephen Heil (Sheri), Cassandra Johnson (Bill), Seth Heil (Kari), Terese Allen, Christopher Weir (Jessica), Melissa Hepler (Mark), Hilary Purdue (Nathan), Adam Heil (Rebecca); 32 grandchildren and a grandson on the way; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Heil (Carol); and many loving members of the Dawson family. He was also recently preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Heil. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Mary Marshall and her staff; and the doctors, nurses and staff at Great Lakes Cancer Institute.
