HALKA, Richard D. "Rudy" - Age 72, of Linden, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 2-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to South Mundy United Methodist Church. Mr. Halka was born January 31, 1939 in Flint, the son of Rudolph and Alma (Santrucek) Halka. He married Peggy Christie January 30, 1960 in Swartz Creek. He retired from GMI (Kettering University) after 25 years of service. Mr. Halka formerly owned and operated Rudy's Barber Shop on Flint Park Blvd. in Flint. He was a member of South Mundy United Methodist Church and a life member of the Friendship Club in Swartz Creek. Surviving are: wife, Peggy; 2 daughters, Pam and husband George Sprague of Fenton and Penny and husband Scott Bittinger of Fenton; 4 grandchildren, Amanda and husband John Larner of Grand Blanc, Amy Bittinger and fiance Derek Baker of Fenton, David Bittinger of Fenton and Ashley Bittinger of Fenton; great granddaughter, Lindsey Larner; 2 sisters, Bernice Pajtas of Flushing and Joyce and husband Martin Jewell of South Carolina; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
