Richard Paul Gerow, age 66, of Flint, our loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. Arrangements were entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.
Richard was born on October 10, 1957, in Flint, the son of the late Paul and Ruth (Reno) Gerow. He graduated from Ainsworth High School, class of 1975. Richard worked for GM Powertrain in Romulus for 30 years. Richard also owned and operated a hot dog stand in downtown Flint by the Genesee County Court House for a couple of years prior to retirement. After he retired, he moved to Fort Meyers, Florida. Richard was a very humble, grateful, funny and simple man to be around. Most recently, in the last couple years, he moved back to Flint with his furry companion, little Betty. In his free time, he was living a happy life and would always enjoy talking with his daughter and with his grandsons who live in Buffalo, NY and visiting with his family here in Flint. Richard liked to go fishing, listening to music and collecting antiques, like his record collection.
He is survived by his daughter, Trisha Scott; grandsons, Gabe and Leo Scott; sister, Paula Bridges; niece and nephews, Chad (Amber) Starnes, Rhonda (Steve) Hildreth and Jason Stoker; great-nieces and nephews, Travis, Madison, Haley, Pippa, Ava and Aiden.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Stoker; and niece, Stacey Beaird. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
