Richard Conrad 'Dick' Francis

FRANCIS, Richard Conrad 'Dick' -- Age 77, of Flint, died Friday, December 8, 2006 at Select Specialty at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 12 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Thomas Knight officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, 6-8 PM Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Faith Missionary Church. Mr. Francis was born November 6, 1929 in Flint the son of Charles W. and Emma (Scholl) Francis. He had resided in Flint for many years, moved to Gladwin from 1995 to 2003, when he returned to the Flint area. He was a member of the 1948-49 Flint Central Football team and they were inducted into the Flint Sports Hall of Fame. He was married to Donna J. Greenman on July 29, 1950 in Flint and she preceded him in death September 19, 2002. Mr. Francis retired from G.M. in 1985 working as a pipefitter with 35 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, family vacations, and his grandchildren. He spent alot of his time investing his life helping others. He was the best 'fixer upper' around. Surviving are: two children; Jan and husband Tom Wright of Swartz Creek, Gary Francis and wife Cindy of Flushing; four grandchildren, Jason Francis and wife Erin, Matt Wright, Jeni Wright, and Ryan Francis; great-granddaughter Madeline Francis; sister, Arlene and husband Bill Gregory of Grand Blanc; brother-in-law, Paul Greenman and wife Sue of Alabama.
