Richard Paul Christenson

CHRISTENSON, Richard Paul  Age 79, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Fenton, died Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Blake Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. Services will be held 11 AM Friday, January 16, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Rev. James Thompson and Rev. James Welker officiating. Visitation will be held 1-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Fenton Extended Care Family Council, P.O. Box 350, Fenton, MI 48430. Mr. Christenson was born May 28, 1924 in Flint, the son of Henry P. and Anna (Richards) Christenson. He married Pauline Marie Paula Whaling on March 31, 1951 in Flint and they resided in Fenton since 1965. Mr. Christenson retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was Postmaster of the Fenton Post Office for many years. He was a member of the Fenton Kiwanis Club, National Association of Postmasters, and Fenton Church of Christ. He served on the Fenton Planning Commission, Board of Directors for Flint Area Federal Credit Union and as President of the Fenton United Way. Surviving are: wife, Paula; three daughters, Lisa Anne and husband, Timothy Welker of Fenton, Dayna Marie and husband, Wain Yeung of South Lyon, Lori Sue and husband, Stephen Parker of Fenton; six grandchildren, Julie, Karen and Jeffrey Welker, Matthew and Scott Parker, Sophie Yeung. He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Robert and Phillip Christenson; sister, Elouise Palawski.
