Richard was born on December 18, 1964, in Wyandotte, Michigan. His grandfather, Guy Fraiser, held a special place in his heart, taking Rich fishing as a young boy and teaching him the strong moral values he held onto until the very end. He attended John F. Kennedy High School and graduated in 1983. Richard was a simple man who enjoyed model cars, western novels, crossword puzzles, and classic TV shows. He was always delighted to watch the latest sports game on the television, whether it be the Lions or Red Wings in action. His favorite place to be was up north on the family property in Gladwin, Michigan. Although he was never a hunter, he simply fell in love with the scenery and beauty of nature. For him, a night well spent was in front of the firepit with a sky full of stars above his head and classic country music playing from a radio in the distance. He would venture into the woods, chop down trees, and drag his handiwork to the cabin using his big blue truck. Many days were spent outside his home in Swartz Creek, Michigan, classic rock blaring on the stereo as he worked on that truck. In the earlier years, he loved to go bowling as well as ride dirt bikes through the wilderness and dirt roads. His children brought a whole new meaning to his life and his love for them was boundless. He would have done anything for them from the moment they were born. Even though he was battling many health complications through the years, he kept himself busy and took pride in his job as a night-shift cook at McDonalds. Perhaps an unknown fact is Richard's fascination with aliens; he was most certain he would live to see the day that they would be revealed.
Richard was taken from this world all too soon and will be dearly missed by his two children, Wyatt Chipman and Savannah Chipman; his mother, JoAnn Chipman; sister, Lori Cooper; and three nephews, Ryan, Justin, and John. He is further survived by other family members and friends and his furry companion, Cupid.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Chipman and his son, Jacob Chipman.
