Richard Calvin Childs

CHILDS, Richard Calvin - Age 90, of Linden, passed away January 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held 11AM Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Pastor Dawn Russell will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Monday, with an Eastern Star Memorial service at 6:30PM, followed by a Masonic Memorial. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Linden Presbyterian Church or Linden Masonic Lodge #132. Richard was born November 5, 1933 in Linden, the son of Calvin L. and Idabelle (Stiff) Childs. He married Deloris Chapman on October 11, 1952 in Angola, IN; she preceded him in death on February 16, 2003. Richard retired from General Motors in 1987. He enjoyed camping, hunting, traveling and family. He was a member of Linden Presbyterian Church, Linden Lodge #132 F.&A.M, Order of Eastern Star Linden Chapter #175 and Morningstar Lodge #556 F.& A.M. He was also active in the Linden Historical Society. Richard is survived by his children, Marie Hackett and Richard (Bonnie) Childs II; grandchildren, Frederick (Sara) Hackett, Kyle (Mariah) Hackett, Carrie (Isaac) Tobin, Robert Childs, Amanda (Todd) Sova and Sara (Nick) Williams; great-grandchildren, Eliana, Gabriella, Isabella, Andrew, Mckenna, Benjamin, Ricky, Drew, Adriane and Derek; brother, Gary Childs; many nieces and nephews; longtime companion, Beverly Eiden.
