Richard Bross

Bross, Richard Dale - Age 71, of Swartz Creek, died November 29, 2018. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 6 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, our temporary location at the Hill Creek Church, 5363 Hill Rd., Swartz Creek (Mundy Township), Pastor Lawrence Gill officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday, 11 AM - 5 PM Wednesday, and 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday. An American Legion Memorial service will be 4 PM Wednesday at Hill Creek Church. Interment 1 PM Monday December 10 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project. Richard was born January 31, 1947 Kalamazoo MI the son of LeRoy A. and Shirley Ann (Ackerman) Bross. He was a 1965 graduate of Middleville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam in the 101st and 502nd Airborne as Sergeant. He married Susan Brown on June 21, 1969 in Farmington Hills. He worked as Swartz Creek Police Officer and State and county 911 dispatcher for many years. He attended the Swartz Creek Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the Swartz Creek American Legion. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed camping. Surviving are: wife of 49 years Susan; two daughters Robin Bross-Wallace (Bud) of Swartz Creek, Jodi Bross-McClung (Jason) of Clarksville TN; two grandsons, Cole Wetherbee, Jason Wallace; brother Allen (Nora) Bross of Nashville, MI; sister Pamela (Jeff) DeCuypere of Vicksburg, MI; many nieces and nephews; and his miniature poodle Belle.
