Richard Edward Boyd

BOYD, Richard Edward  Age 68, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, June 17, 2005 at Genesys Health Park.  Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Monday, June 20, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.  Pastor Jeff Hillman officiating.  Visitation will be 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Sunday and from 12 PM Monday until the time of service at the funeral home.  Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.  Mr. Boyd was born September 6, 1936 in Flint, the son of Ivan John and Laura Elizabeth (Stonebreaker) Boyd.  He married Dianne Carol Dirksen April 6, 1990 in Flint.  Mr. Boyd retired from the Flint Board of Education with 28 years of service and was a veteran of the US Army.  He was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, Flint Wood Carvers, and the Swartz Creek and Carman Ainsworth Senior Centers.  He enjoyed woodcarving and gospel music.  Mr. Boyd is survived by:  wife, Dianne; daughter, Susanne Boyd; grandson, Tyler Boyd; brother, Robert Boyd and wife Patricia; stepchildren, William Rau and wife Tracey, Eric Rau and wife Carol, Carole Anne Boal and husband Greg; step grandchildren, Bobby, Kenny and Danielle Rau, Eric II, Corey, and Sarah Rau, Nicolas and Jayson Boal; step great grandson, Christian Rau; nephew, Mike Boyd and wife Lisa; niece, Karen Boyd; great nieces, Laura and Emily; great nephew, Robert.  Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by:  his parents; two stepdaughters; nephew, John Boyd.  Friends may share an online condolence or post a tribute for the family at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
