Richard Matthew "Matt" Bennett

BENNETT, Richard Matthew "Matt" - Age 55, of Swartz Creek, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Matt's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Chad Peck officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the family, to be placed into a trust for Matt's son, Brady Matthew Bennett.

Matt was born April 7, 1969 in Southfield, the son of Richard Robertson Bennett and Joan Ruth (Hagerty) Jackabon. He was a 1987 graduate of East Grands Rapid High School, and attended Grand Valley State University. He married Katherine Jane Simpson May 25, 2023 in Swartz Creek. He had resided in Swartz Creek for the past 22 years coming from Grand Rapids. Matt was a realtor with Mid-Mitten Realty. He was a dedicated member of True Freedom Reformed Church in Gaines. He enjoyed gardening, kayaking, cooking, camping, outdoors, walking in the woods, his pets and most of all spending time with his family.

Surviving are: his wife, Katherine; son, Brady; step-children, Brendan, Allison, Kenneth and Gabriella; step-grandchildren, Brendan, Jr. and Aleera; mother, Joan Jackabon; father, Richard (Deb) Bennett; brother, Andrew Bennett; half-brother, Zachary Bennett; half-sister, Audra Brummel; and nieces, Olive, Fiona and Ainsley Bennett.
