LABBY, Rhonda Ann (Kapture) - age 53, of Fenton, peacefully passed to eternal life on Friday, June 12, 2009 at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Rev. Fr. David W. Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Sunday and Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. It is Rhonda's wish that instead of flowers, memorials be made to the Eastern Food Bank of Michigan or the charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Rhonda was born June 13, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Ronald Max and Ruth (Pelkey) Kapture. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1973. In her senior year, she worked at GMPD as a high school co-op student in the Financial Department, and was later hired. Rhonda met Chad Labby, the love of her life, and they were married February 14, 1975 in Flint, Michigan. They enjoyed their time before children traveling, boating, going up north and just being together. When the girls were born, family time was extremely important to Rhonda She was very involved in their activities, taking vacation days to chaperone filed trips, attend holiday parties and help out in the classroom, as well as cheering at sporting events. She was a Girl Scout Leader for five years. Summers were spent traveling in the camper to various Michigan state parks as well as venturing out to Washington DC. Disney World was a favorite destination and the family was fortunate to take a vacation to Europe In 2000, Rhonda was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Once the disease progressed, Rhonda retired from GMSPO in April 2006 with more than 32 years of service. In retirement, Rhonda enjoyed reading, scrap booking, genealogy and meeting friends for lunch. Rhonda is survived by her husband, Chad; daughters, Meghan and Amanda of Fenton; parents Max and Ruth Kapture of Davison; sisters and brothers, Janice (Robert) Gruner of Swartz Creek, Sandra (Robert) Johnson of Davison, Michael Kapture of Laingsburg. Thomas (Kerstin) Kapture of Webster, NY, Bethany (Dennis) Coggins of Battle Creek; nieces and nephews, Tony, Jon and Elise Gruner, Mike and Kelsey Johnson, Ron and Matt Kapture, Kyle and Dylan Kapture, Cory and Alie Coggins; mother and father-in-law, Nelson and Lois Labby of Clio; sister in law, Cheryl (Kirk) Geister of Clio and their children Stephanie (Kevin) Polzin of Sterling Heights and Aaron (Alison) Geister of Flushing; many aunts, uncles, cousin, great nieces and nephews and special friends.
