Rex Scott Smith

Smith, Rex Scott was born on May 24, 1950, the third child in as many years to Isaac C. and Jean L. (VanValkenburg) Smith in Flint, Michigan.  His rough beginning would carry throughout his journey here on earth.   All who knew him felt a tug on their hearts for him and are better people for having known this special man.  What a joy he could spark in the hearts of friends and family.   Rex passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023.

Rex spent most of his adult years in Atlanta, Michigan, a small town in the north where the people are friendly and treat you like family.  All knew of him and in their own little way watched out for him.  He will be missed!

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Karen Elizabeth (Mayher).  His parents, grandparents and two brothers, Charles F. and Isaac C. Smith III.

He leaves four siblings, Holly (Frank) Weaver in Pennsylvania, Mary (David) Bradley in Michigan, Claudia (Alan) Pettis in Michigan and Kevin (Debbie) Smith, Sr. in Pennsylvania.  Rex is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life Ceremony and Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Linden, Michigan in May 2024.  Date and Time to be announced.
