FERGUSON SR. Rex Sterling -- Age 80, of Flint Township, died January 9, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 3PM Friday January 13 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6340 Roberta Street, Burton. Fr. Bob Bacik celebrant. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Thursday followed by a 3rd and 4th degree memorial ceremony. Visitation will also be held 2PM until time of mass at the church on Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association or Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America. Rex was born May 11, 1936 in Hubbard Lake the son of George and Erie (McKinnon) Ferguson. He married Donna Jean Welsh in Detroit on January 24, 1959 she preceded him in death on December 8 2012. He was employed at GM as a Machine Repairman retiring in 1987 with 32 years of service. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Rex was a member of the K of C Davison Council and the FOE Davison Council. He was also a member of the A.O.H. Rex was inducted in the Alpena Sports Hall of Fame on May 5, 2012. He enjoyed travel, Baseball, and playing cards and going to the Casinos. He is survived by children, Rex (Penny) Ferguson Jr, Bradford (Karen) Ferguson , Gloria (John) Grappin, Mary Beth (John) Rahn; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Kenneth (Rita) Ferguson; several nieces and nephews; special friend Edith Kollien.
