WISCHMEYER, Rev. Fr. Amos Henry - of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the Rectory of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, February 1, 2008 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 7563 Mary St., Swartz Creek with Most Rev. Carl F. Mengeling and priests of the Diocese con-celebrant. Interment will be held 3 PM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing, MI. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Wednesday at the church where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held 8 AM-9PM Thursday at the church. Mass for the Dead will be celebrated 6 PM Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the church with Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. A parish rosary will be prayed 7:30 PM Thursday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Catholic Social Services. Fr. Wischmeyer was born April 21, 1924 in Shepherd, MI, the son of Edward and Irene (Siefker) Wischmeyer. He was baptized on April 23, 1924 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Shepherd. Fr. Wischmeyer was a graduate of Resurrection High School in Lansing. He attended Mount St. Mary of the West in Norwood, OH and graduated St. John Provincial Seminary in Theology in 1951. He was ordained on June 2, 1951 at St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing. Fr. Wischmeyer served the Lord as a humble Catholic Priest for 57 years. He was an Assistant Pastor at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler from 1951-1958 and St. Phillips Catholic Church in Battle Creek from 1958-1960. Fr. Wischmeyer was the Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gaines from 1960-1962, the Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, New Buffalo from 1962-1967 and has been the Pastor of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church from August 7, 1967 to his death on January 27, 2008. Fr. Wischmeyer's gift to everyone he met was love, care and concern, in honor of his life, may we all follow in his footsteps. Surviving are: sister, Sr. Mary Irene Wischmeyer of Adrian, MI; two brothers, Norman Wischmeyer of Woodland, MI, Melvin Wischmeyer and wife, Margaret of Blue Ridge, GA; sister-in-law, Bonnie Wischmeyer of Lansing, MI; many nieces and nephews.
