VANDERHOFF, Reverend M.F. "Van" - of Flint, age 84, went to be with the Lord October 18, 2014 after a long illness. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2014, at More Life Tabernacle, 6430 Lennon Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Jerry F.J. Stoner, officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at More Life Tabernacle. Born in Ruthven, IA, June 21, 1930, Reverend Vanderhoff was an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church for 52 years. A 1949 graduate of Tupelo Bible College, Tupelo, MS, his ministry included 2 years as a traveling evangelist and 8 years home missions pastor in Streator, IL, before moving to Flint in 1962. He assisted pastors Albert Abbey and Herbert Ervin at South Flint Tabernacle until 1970 when his ministry took him to More Life Tabernacle (formerly Apostolic Faith Tabernacle) where he has served for 39 years. There he assisted pastors Glen Henderson, O.C. Marler, Elisha Verrett, and Jerry Stoner. He pastored at Flint Heights Terrace faithfully for 35 years holding services every Sunday morning and ministering to residents' spiritual needs. He retired from General Motors Truck Plant in 1993 with 28 years of service. Rev. Vanderhoff loved his Savior, his wife and family, his church family, the ministry, the Word of God, and never met a stranger. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Son of Rev. Urban Theron and Doris (McKee) Vanderhoff, both deceased; sister to Gwenelda (Allen) Oggs (both deceased). He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ella Ruth; daughter, Denise Lynn; son, Rev. Arthur Theron (Julia) of Greenwood, IN; son Mark Allen of Flint; son Jim (Wendy) of Waterford, MI. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer (Russ) Kacin, of Bloomfield Hills, MI; Melodie (Josh) Lange of Clarkston, MI; Rev. Arthur T. Vanderhoff II (Christina ) of St. Louis, MO; Benjamin, Luke, and Emily Vanderhoff, all of Greenwood, IN; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha, Eleanor, Kathryn, and James Kacin, Gabriel Lange, Ruthanne, Elijah, and Baby Vanderhoff; several brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
