BURKE, Rev. F.E. - age 85, of Fenton and Zephyrhills, FL, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at his residence in Zephyrhills, FL. Services will be held 12 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Freedom Center, 2473 West Shiawassee Ave., Fenton with Pastor Jim Wiegand officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Monday and 1-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to The Freedom Center Building Fund. Rev. Burke was born July 24, 1926 in Paris, TN, the son of Fonnie Earl and Flora Belle (Fitch) Burke. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. Rev. Burke married Thelma Womack on April 29, 1944 in Paris, TN. He was ordained in 1965 and was the Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Fenton where he served for 33 years retiring in 1995. Pastor Burke started the Teen Challenge in Fenton and was very active in the Fenton Community. His life-long dream came true with the building of the new church in 1986 and his dream continues on with the Freedom Center. Surviving are: loving wife of 67 years, Thelma; five sons, Robert E. of FL, Billy E. and wife, Bonnie of Linden, Fredrick E. and wife, Debbie of Linden, Donald L. and wife, Margaret of Gaines, John and wife, Vicky; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Rodger Lee and wife, Wanda of Paris, TN.
