Rev. Harold L. Barber

BARBER, Rev. Harold L., age 85, of Swartz Creek, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, November 29, 2007. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Interment in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek Building Fund or Avalon Hospice. Rev. Barber was born September 19, 1922 in Brady Township, Michigan the son of Henry and Luella (Baker) Barber. He married  Geraldine M. Shrider on December 1, 1972 in Swartz Creek. Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as Quarter Master during WWII. He was employed by Wolverine Trucking Company until his retirement in 1975. Rev. Barber was former pastor of Westland Baptist Church and a member of First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek. Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 35 years, Geraldine; 12 children, Jill Wezell (Warren), Rebecca Small (John), Patricia Owens (Jack), John Barber (Bonnie), Garland Barber (Marsha), Ramonna Hunter, Brant Barber (Jennifer), Lisa Barber, Christian Barber, Carolyn Hatch (Denny), Linda French, David Williams (Pam); 31 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Edison, John, Georgie; sister, Blanche; sons-in-law, Donald French and Jim Hunter.
