CLOSE, Retta Florence - Age 93, of Flint, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint, Rev. George Warson officiating. Burial immediately following at Bristol Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Mrs. Close was born September 3, 1915 in Flint, the daughter of Alfred James and Ella Mae (Johnson) O'Leary. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School. She married Donald Close November 10, 1951 in Flint and he preceded her in death April 7, 1985. She was a member of Hilltop Church of God, Order of Eastern Stars, Flint Chapter #138 and Amaranth Court #2. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Peggy Riddell of Flint and Linda O'Neal of Baker City, Oregon; 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Donald D. and wife Phyllis O'Leary of Mt. Morris; sister-in-law, Josephine O'Leary of Flint; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Kenneth, John and Dale O'Leary.
