Reta Murphy

MURPHY, Reta Marie - Age 91, of Millington, died March 2, 2015. Per Reta's wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions to Michigan VFW in Bay City or Reverence Hospice. Reta was born August 4, 1923 in Mayville, the daughter of Philip and Vera U. (Rice) Shank and was a 1939 graduate of Millington High School. During WWII, she attended Georgetown University and worked in Washington DC as a secretary to Congressmen Fred Crawford of Michigan. She retired as Personnel Director from United Plastics in Vassar. Reta loved to sing and play piano, especially at family gatherings. She is survived by her daughter Marlene Murphy and husband Dan Turner; grandson, Doug and wife Christie Tremewan; great-grandson, Cole Tremewan; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Norma Marcy and Jean Ross.
