Rem Arvel STEWART III

STEWART III, Rem Arvel - of Flint, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Brian's House. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 8, 2010 at House of Prayer, 1851 W. Carpenter Road, Flint, with Pastor Kenneth Stewart officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road from 5-9 PM Friday and at church from 1:00 PM until time of service Saturday. Rem was born June 29, 1928 in Sherrill, AR, the son of Rem Arvel, Jr. and Elizabeth (Harris) Stewart. He graduated from Flint Northern High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. Rem retired in 1979 from Fisher Body I after 30 years of service. He married Mary L. Williams July 3, 1978 in Toledo, OH. He was a faithful member of House of Prayer Church until his health wouldn't let him. He also was an avid bowler and golfer. Surviving are: wife, Mary L.; 12 children, including Marlon Stewart and Ricky Day; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clarence Stewart of Arkansas and Herbert Stewart of Flint; 4 sisters, Winifred Jefferson of Chicago, Louise Stewart of Chicago, Betty Stewart of Flint and Lavern Hines of Arkansas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leon Stewart and sister, Ora Lee Morris. Special thanks to Carolyn Meekins, Kith Haven, and Brian's House.
