Reginald Russell FORTUNE

FORTUNE, Reginald Russell -- Age 77, of Swartz Creek, died May 31, 2011 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 PM Friday, June 3 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, Fr. Steve Anderson celebrant. Interment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek; and 1 PM until the time of mass at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice or Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mr. Fortune was born January 4, 1934 in Flint the son of David and Loretta (Cadieux) Fortune. He was a 1953 graduate of Flint Northern High School and attended Flint Junior College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had resided in Swartz Creek since 2004, coming from Linden. Mr. Fortune married Elizabeth Speakes in 1958; she preceded him in death in 1992. He met Denise (Myers) Buszek and they married in 1999. He retired from Chevrolet Metal Fabricating in 1991 as a Millwright with 34 years of service. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Fenton Eagles, Fenton Moose Lodge, and UAW Local 659. He was a volunteer for Genesys Hospice. Surviving are: wife Denise; children Diane Farner of Flint, Mark and wife Lesia Farner of Petoskey, Susan Farner of Flint, Erich Farner of Bonita Springs, FL, Julie and husband Gary Horton of Owosso; grandchildren, Anthony, Adam, Jason, Angela, Joseph, Erich II, Jordan, Jesse, Jade, and Marque; Denise's son Michael Buszek and Kristina, and their children Dylan and Katelynn; seven great-grandchildren; brother Donald and wife Marilyn Fortune of Wisconsin and Florida; sister Bonnie and husband Les Mathews of Davison; numerous nieces and nephews; caregivers and friends Mary Smith and Yvonne Pilon.
