Stipes, Reese Winfield - Age 92, of Grand Blanc, died October 10, 2023. Funeral service will be held 12:30 PM Friday, October 20 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 10 AM Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Area XIII - Special Olympics or Charity of one's Choice.
Reese was born August 29, 1931 in Flint, the son of Reese Stipes Sr. and Dorothy (Amato) Stipes. He was a 1949 Flint Central High School graduate. Reese also was a graduate of Hillsdale College and Washington & Lee University Law School in Lexington, Virginia. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. Reese was a second generation lawyer, he began practicing law in 1956.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Reese also served the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG). He married JoAnn Peters on May 25, 1961 in Dallas, TX, she preceded him in death on October 18, 2011. Reese and JoAnn were married for 50 years.
He was a proud member and past president of The Genesee County Bar Association. Reese loved and was loved by so many in the legal community throughout his 60 years of practice.
Reese is survived by his daughters, Shelley Stipes, Marcey Stipes Lutton; son-in-law, Jeff Lutton; granddaughters, Katie (Joe) Noller, Meg (Robert) Sequenzia; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Reese and Miles Noller; sister, Sue (Brad) Rogers; one nephew; five nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Tom Stipes; sister-in-law, Jill Stipes; and so many of his cherished friends.
