Rebeka Mae Taylor, age 52, of Swartz Creek, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Rebeka was born on August 13, 1972, in Flint, MI, the daughter of Robert Townsend and Raquel Morales. She was a proud graduate of Durand High School, class of 1990. Rebeka dedicated a significant part of her life to enriching the lives of others. She worked at the Swartz Creek Alternative Education, helping students achieve their goals and nurturing their potential. Her professional endeavors also included a remarkable 25 years as a director for Pampered Chef, where she inspired many through her leadership. Additionally, Rebeka was the owner and operator of Blue Butterfly Thrifts and Gifts in Swartz Creek, a venture that allowed her to share her creativity and connect with the community.
Beyond her career, Rebeka was known for her generous spirit and deep commitment to service. She volunteered with the Swartz Creek Schools Athletic Boosters for seven years, contributing her time and energy to the success of her children and local athletics through working the concessions. Her enthusiasm for community events was further evident in her ten years of volunteer work with the Swartz Creek Hometown Days. A devoted member of the Mayfair Bible Church in Flushing for 30 years, Rebeka often graced the choir with her heartfelt singing. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and showed her faith openly with all who crossed her path.
Rebeka's joyous spirit also shone brightly in her personal life. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Jeff, on October 7, 1994, in Flushing. Together, they built a nurturing home for their children, Noah, Gabriela, Micah, Brady Taylor, and Marquavian Stephens, who were a constant source of pride and joy in her life. Her father, Robert Townsend, and mother, Raquel Morales, along with her siblings, Selina Robinson, Angela (John) Moore, Robert and Brian Watkins, survive her. She also leaves behind her close friends and "soul sisters," Deborah Culver and Lisa Svarc, who shared in the journey of her life.
Rebeka was preceded in death by her sister, Monica Coolich, and her second mother, Nicki Townsend, who hold their cherished memories close as a testament to the love and impact she had on their lives.
