Rebecca HOLLENBACK

HOLLENBACK, Rebecca Elaine Newton - age 92, of Byron, died Monday, November 21, 2011. Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Interment will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Owosso Memorial Hospice or the Serenity House. Mrs. Hollenback was born April 27, 1919 in Thomas Township, Saginaw County, the daughter of Arthur and Ora (Thompson) Fletcher. She married Ivan Newton on July 7, 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1975. She then married Florian "Shorty" Hollenback on December 23, 1983 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of the Durand Swinging Seniors Band. Surviving are: six children, Victor (Barbara) Newton of Henderson, Beverley (Roger) Towne of Lewisburg, KY, Leslie (Eleanor) Newton of Columbiaville, Arliss (Daniel) Liddell of Byron, Michael (Diana) Newton of Vienna, IL, Elaine (David) Flesher of Sears, MI; six step-children, David (MaryLynn) Hollenbeck of Byron, Paul (Karen) Hollenbeck of Lennon, Richard Hollenbeck of Bancroft, Janet (Joe) Phalen of Byron, Marie (Ken) Cieslak of FL, Ruth Ann (Eldon) Wykes of Gaines; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Opal Frederick of Breckenridge, MI; brother, Darnell (Barbara) Fletcher of CA.
