RUSS, Raymond Joseph - Age 90, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St, Fenton (A live stream of the service will be available on Ray's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM and at church Friday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Parish Restore and Renovations.
Ray was born September 19, 1932 in Joliet, IL, the son of Joseph and Pauline (Mikulich) Russ. He was a 1950 graduate of Joliet High School and he received an Associates Degree in 1952 from Joliet Junior College. He was veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force. He married Shirley Webster Stacey September 15, 1989 in Fenton. Ray had resided in Fenton since 1989 coming from Joliet, IL and Plainfield, IL. He retired in 1989 from Fisher Body Chicago Plant after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a 3rd Degree and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Fenton Council #7418. He also was a member of the Fenton American Legion Post #38. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, deer hunting, handgun target shooting, crossword puzzles, jig saw puzzles, and all puzzles.
Surviving are: his wife, Shirley; children, Christopher Russ of Cornell, IL, Daniel (Penny) Russ of Dwight, IL, Barbara Brownlee (George Brueck) of Bancroft and Thomas Russ of Oswego, IL; step children, Lee Michael (Nicole) Stacey of Avon Lake, OH, Deanne Marie Gerdes of Fayatteville, NC and Karen Sue Raslich of Millersburg; 2 grandchildren, Steven Brownlee and Pamela Brownlee (Jay Moss); step grandchildren, Camden, Salem Grace and Katie.
