PLOUCHA, Raymond Francis -- Age 67, of Flushing, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center. Memorial Mass will be held 11 AM Monday, July 10, 2006 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Flint, Fr. Thomas Firestone and Fr. Douglas Osborn celebrants. The family will receive friends from 1-9 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A Knights of Columbus service will be held at 7:30 PM Sunday and a prayer service will be held 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. Those desiring may make contributions to the Raymond Ploucha Memorial Fund (for a Catholic school education fund for his grandchildren.) He was born May 31, 1939 in Flint the son of John and Mary Ploucha. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. He was married to Anne Bissonette on October 14, 1967. He retired from Chevrolet V-8 in 1992 with 28 years of service. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Dom Polski, Polish Legion of American Veterans and the American Legion. Ray enjoyed spending time at their cottage in the Upper Peninsula. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, and cooking. He was very witty and loved to tell a joke. His greatest joy later in life was spending quality time with his grandchildren, Christina, Brittney, and Jacob. He enjoyed attending their games, concerts, and activities. Surviving are: wife Anne; three children, Tom Ploucha, Ted (Cheryl) Ploucha, RaeAnn Ploucha; three grandchildren, Christina Hilden, Brittney Ploucha, and Jacob Ploucha; brother John (Maryann) Ploucha; two sisters Joan (Ed) Vedock, Mary Kassem; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Ploucha, Mary (John) Budnick; very good friends, Ford Schooley and Mike Burnett; cousin and friend David Ploucha. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Ploucha; brother Jim Ploucha; brother-in-law, Mike Kassem; Aunt Jean Riutta.
