Raymond L. Vern Nielsen

NIELSEN, Raymond L. Vern  Age 74, of Grand Blanc, died Saturday, December 27, 2003 at Hurley Medical Center. Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5005 McCandlish Rd., Grand Blanc, Rev. Dennis J. Himm will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Mr. Nielsen was born February 17, 1929 in Trufant, Michigan the son of Arnold and Mildred (Christiansen) Nielsen. He graduated from Plymouth High School. He had resided in Grand Blanc/Mundy Township the past 35 years. He married Faye I. Merriman on March 4, 1950; she preceded him in death November 22, 2003. Mr. Nielsen was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a past member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wayne. Surviving are: 3 children, A faithful husband and father, your quick wit helped us to laugh at ourselves, Gail (Edd) Murrah of Oak Creek, WI, Norman (Denise) Nielsen, Gary (Linda) Nielsen, all of Fenton; eight grandchildren, Derek, Michael, Janel, Natalie, Nathan, Justin, Whitney and Seth; one great-grandchild on the way; 2 sisters, Pat Eisenberg of Rochester, NY, Wanda Scott of Plymouth.
