Raymond Merritt

MERRITT, Raymond Dean- Age 89, of Davison, died Saturday, May 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Sunday, June 5, at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Visitation will be held 12:00 PM until the time of service on Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Raymond was born October 31, 1926 in Flint, the son of Frank and Mabel (Ferguson) Merritt. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a Flint Police Officer for several years. He worked at Skaff Furniture and Sears and also owned his own furniture repair business. Raymond owned several antique cars and enjoyed going to yard sales, drawing and painting and reading biographies and true crime novels. Raymond is survived by his wife, Maxine; two children, Jacquie (Michael) Zawilinski and Jill (George) McKellar; eight grandchildren, Carrie Ryder, Brenda Lee, Michael McKellar, Matthew McKellar, Timothy McKellar, Roxanne Lennon, Renee Stoll and Eric Zawilinski; 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradford Lennon and one daughter, Ronda Lee; three sisters and one brother.
