DAVIS, Raymond Lloyd Jr. - age 81, of Flint Township, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Kevin Harbin will officiate. Interment will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Thursday and 10 AM until the time of service Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church Music Ministry. Raymond was born September 18, 1930 in Camden, NJ. He was a 1949 graduate of Dye High School and he was inducted into the Carman Ainsworth Athletic Hall of Fame. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Korean War. Mr. Davis retired from General Motors in 1986 with over 37 years of service. He was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood working. He was a trustee on the senior citizens board in Paradise, MI, where he enjoyed spending the summers. He volunteered at the Paradise Blueberry Festival for many years and was a volunteer at Crossroads Village. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Kareen Davis of Flint; son, Scott (Paula) Davis of Charlotte; grandchildren, Amanda (James) Elkins of Apex, NC and Beth (Shayne) Bosma of Charlotte; brother, Edward C. (Shirley) Davis of Flint; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Davis Sr.; mother, Catherine Davis Miller and step-father, James Miller.
