Ralph L., McCord Jr.

McCORD, Ralph Lionel, Jr..- Age 85, of Springfield, died Friday, April 4, 2008 at Genesys Health Park Grand Blanc, MI.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. 5th St, Springfield.  Robert Green officiating.  Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-7 PM Monday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Springfield Bowling Association or the American Heart Association.  Ralph was born April 4, 1923 in Chatham, the son of Ralph L., Sr. and Verna (Black) McCord.  He had resided in the Springfield area his entire life.  He married Rose Marie Ray June 17, 1972 and she preceded him in death July 26, 2007.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army.  He retired from Sangamon County Road Commission and had also worked for Truman L. Flatt Construction Company for many years.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and also was a member of the Greater Springfield Bowling Association and Hall of Fame.  Surviving are: 2 sons, Gary L. and wife Linda McCord of Davison, MI, Perry L. and wife Debe McCord of Flushing, MI; 6 grandchildren, Nikki Brown and Jessica Brown both of Springfield, Eric and wife Tami McCord and Stephanie and husband Bo White both of Oregon, Damon and wife Jennifer McCord of New York, Kyle McCord of Michigan; 5 great grandchildren; cousin, Irene Teyshak of Springfield; friend and special caregiver, Donna Rexroad of Springfield.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Fern Dunham
