BRUSH, Ralph Horton - Age 91, of Fenton, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Haven of Rest in Williamston. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Pastor Lloyd Williams officiating. Interment is in Tyrone Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service. Mr. Brush was born on September 2, 1918 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, where he grew up, until his family moved to Detroit where he finished his last year of high school. He was then drafted to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Betty Sales (who was also a native Windsorite) September 29, 1941 before leaving for the war. He returned four years later. They made their home in Wayne, MI and in Dearborn, MI before they came to Fenton, where they had lived for 45 years. Mr. Brush worked for Buell Tool and Die Shop in Detroit and Flint Chevrolet Metal Fabrication plant until his retirement. Mr. Brush became a caregiver for his wife of 67 years until her death, May 20, 2009. He and his family hosted an exchange student from Norway many years ago, Inger Line Lysbakken Thallaug, who remains part of the family today. He is survived by: 2 daughters, Marlene (Jeff) Huber and Bonnie (Lloyd) Symons; 3 grandchildren, Chad Huber, Stephen (Crystal Lawrence) Huber, Carly (Jason) Wienke; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Max, Hunter, Michaela, Dakota and Addison. Also Surviving: brother, Marwood "Barney" Brush of Owosso; sister-in-law, Isobel Brush of Canada; several nieces and nephews.
