CHASTAIN,  Professor  Clark E., age 76 of Flint, died  Thursday, October 20, 2005 at the Alterra Clare Bridge Assisted living in Grand Blanc.  He was born on November 12, 1928 in Cecil, Arkansas. He and Eva Goette were married in Germany on December 29, 1952 while serving with the U.S. Army.  Professor Chastain has lived in Michigan for many years,  and in the Flint area since 1986. He received a masters degree from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate degree from the University of Michigan.  Professor Chastain taught at the University of Michigan from 1958 until he retired in 1994.  He taught several years at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and later at the University of Michigan Flint from which he retired.  He was a member of many professional organizations, the author of two accounting books and authored many professional articles. He received many scholastic awards and had been awarded an outstanding professor award while teaching at the University of Michigan in  Flint. Professor Chastain was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed sports, especially basketball. He also loved traveling throughout the world.  Surviving is his wife Eva; two sisters,  Dixie Mathews and husband Ellsworth of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Sue Riewe and husband Bill of Dallas, Texas, a brother Bill Chastain and wife Juanita of Sun City, Florida. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  Professor Chastain will lie in state at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd. (Just South of Hill Rd.)  Saturday, October 22, 2005 from 1 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday.  Sunday, Professor Chastain will be taken to the Smith Mortuary in Charleston, Arkansas for services on Tuesday October 25th at 1:00 P.M. followed by interment at the Lowes Creek Cemetery in Lowes Creek, Arkansas.  Friends may share online condolences or post tributes for the family at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
