Phyllis Skeans

SKEANS, Phyllis Jean - age 80, of Byron, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at her residence. Services will be held 1 PM Friday, October 28, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Pastor Willis Hurley officiating. Interment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 - 9 PM Thursday and 12 - 1 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Free Unity General Baptist Church, 316 E. Shaiwassee Ave, Fenton. Phyllis was born December 30, 1935 in Switzer, WV, the daughter of Eurate and Edith Emma (Ling) McLemore. She married Cecil Estep on July 20, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She then married Samuel Skeans on June 16, 1984 and he preceded her in death in 2008. Phyllis has resided in the Fenton Area since 1954 coming from WV. She was a Certified Nurse's Aide for over 20 years working at Hammond House (Rockwell Assisted Living), Crestmont Nursing Home, and Argentine Care Center. She was a member of Unity Free General Baptist Church in Fenton. Phyllis was an avid reader and enjoyed music and embroidery. Surviving are: four children, Roger (June) Estep of Argentine, Jerry Lee (Shirley) Estep of Fenton, Jack Estep of Fenton, Pamela (Raymond) Smith of Byron; three step-sons, Jay (Jenny) Skeans of Waterford, Kevin (Jeannie) Skeans of Hulbert, Kris Skeans of Hulbert; 34 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Linda) McLemore of Claypool Hill, VA. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two husbands, two sons, James and William Estep; step-daughter, Sonya Skeans; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Hurley, Mildred Chambers, and Nina Michem; and brother, Bob McLemore.
