Phyllis was born on February 21, 1948, in Flint, Michigan to the late Donald & Shirley Allen. She graduated in 1966 from Swartz Creek High School. Phyllis continued her education at Baker College of Flint and earned her bachelor's degree in accounting. Phyllis worked for the University of Michigan-Flint in the accounting office and retired in 1999 after 30 years of employment. She married the love of her life, Rodger Olson in Swartz Creek on July 18, 1970, and together they were blessed with their daughter, Cindi. Phyllis and Rodger are life-long members to the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. In the early years Phyllis and her family traveled the country with their RV. Phyllis bowled for many years on both couples and women's leagues, she even competed in the USBC National tournaments. Phyllis enjoyed spending time gardening in her many beautiful flower gardens. She was a talented crafter, perhaps her favorite craft would have been one stroke painting. Above all she cherished her time spent with her family and adored her two grandsons, Nathan and Ryan.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years in marriage, Rodger Olson; her only daughter, Cindi (Jason) Cole; two grandsons, Nathan and Ryan Cole; her brothers, David (Linda) Allen and Donald (Jill) Allen; her sister, Patricia Griffin and sister-in-law, Roberta Allen. Phyllis is further survived by many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Allen; brother-in-law, Steven Griffin; her in-laws Herb and Hazel Olson; and her siblings-in-law, Jim and Jo Carol Olson.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Promedica Hospice, Dr. Spears at the Michigan Medicine Neurology Clinic, and Mary Meagher of the PSP Support Group.
