HOVEY, Phyllis L. "Rene" - Age 84, of Fenton, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral service will be held 11AM Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, Pastor Dale Swihart officiating. Burial immediately following in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Fenton or a charity of your choice. Mrs. Hovey was born October 26, 1924 in Marine City, the daughter of John and Myrtle (Walker) Shaw. She married George N. Hovey March 1950 in Royal Oak and he preceded her in death August 30, 1980. She and her late husband owned and operated Hovey's Drug Store in Fenton for 25 years. She had resided in Fenton from 1954 until 1976; she then resided in Harbor Springs from 1976 until 2001 when she moved back to Fenton. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fenton. Surviving are: 3 sons, Jerome and wife Juli Hovey of Scottsdale, AZ, Stephen Hovey of Fenton, Jeffrey and wife Radmila Hovey of Goodrich; 4 grandchildren, George, Nikolas, Jeffrey and Hannah; sister, Ruth Ribant of Waterford; brother, Clayton and wife Susan Shaw of Mt. Dora, FL; brother-in-law, Wesley and wife Karen Hovey of Harbor Springs; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 6 brothers and sisters.
