Phyllis Ford

August 23, 1950 — September 20, 2021

Fenton

Phyllis Marlene Ford, age 71, passed away surrounded by family in Fenton, Michigan on September 20th, 2021. She was born in St. Louis, MO on August 23, 1950 to Raymond and Hazel Dye and was raised in Flint, Michigan with her 5 sisters, Lori, Sharon, Yolanda, Jackie and Donna, and her brother, Dennis. The daughter of a lifelong auto worker, Phyllis inherited her fathers tireless work ethic and good attitude.

After graduating from Hamdy High School, Phyllis moved to Arizona for two years where she worked as a bank teller. She moved back home and married her first husband, Christian Leix and had her two children, Jessica and Peter. For the remainder of her life, she would be her own boss, running a daycare out of her family home until her children went to school, and running a cleaning service in Ann Arbor for over 10 years. When Phyllis was 45, she went to Ann Arbor Massage school, where she learned how to be a professional masseuse. Phyllis worked at a few salons in the Ann Arbor area before creating her own business, “Vital Point”. She continued to grow her skills throughout her career, becoming one of the best natural healers in the area with a full schedule of loyal patients. She met her second husband, Jim Ford, in 2005, and was married until he passed away in 2017. After retiring, she volunteered in the newborn ward at St Joseph Mercy Hospital and gave freely throughout her life to dozens of charitable organizations.

Phyllis Ford was warm, generous, kind-hearted, hard-working and adventurous. She left the world a better place with her selfless acts and good nature. She explored the world over, twice white-water rafting through the Grand Canyon on week-long adventures, amongst numerous other adventures. Phyllis was at home and happiest in nature; whether in a national park or in her garden, her connection with the outside world was intimate and profound.

She is survived by her son, Peter Leix; daughter, Jessica Jacobson-Leix; two grandchildren, Olivia Leix-Jacobson and Charlie Leix; and five of her siblings.

A memorial service will be held at the Dye Family Home in Flint, Michigan. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter in her memory.
