Phyllis was born January 6, 1932 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Clara E. (Pacynski) Blaize. She was a graduate of Flint Technical High School. She had worked for A.C. Spark Plug in her younger years and also served as a volunteer at Genesys for 20 plus years. She enjoyed traveling, especially visiting family in Washington State, and traveled to Alaska and China. She frequently played Mahjong with a group of friends, and was deeply involved in the lives of each of her grandchildren. Phyllis was an avid classical music enthusiast. She was a season ticket holder of the Flint Symphony Orchestra and just loved Maestro Enrique Diemecke. She enjoyed dinner and playing cards with her family every Friday night for over 20 years, and reveled in sharing the classic movies that she loved.
Surviving are: three children, Stephen (Linda) Becker, Joseph (Amber) Becker, Catherine (Joseph) Szczerba; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Becker; grandchildren, Reed, Ellias, Sarah, Jamie, Kryssy (Justin), Kiera (Zade), Matthew, Gregory, Paul and Audrey; sister, Rita Tuttle; sister-in-law, Janice Becker; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Cletus; her parents Joseph and Clara Blaize; two sons, Thomas Becker and Pete Becker; two brothers, Joseph Blaize and Richard Blaize.
Phyllis touched everyone she met with her kindness and giving nature. Her smile lit the day of everyone she encountered. She gave each of her children the space to become what they aspired to be. The canvas for the genius of her art, was the affect she had on every friend, family member and stranger that she graced with her presence.
