Phyllis Austin

AUSTIN, Phyllis Jean - age 85, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, March 7, 2016 at her residence. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Luncheon will be held 1-4 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at New Testament Community Church, 3484 Belsay Rd., Burton . Mrs. Austin was born July 2, 1930 in Gobles, MI, the daughter of Walter Adolph and Florence Marie (Manning) Grauman. She married Gerald Lee Austin on July 17, 1948 and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1994. Phyllis enjoyed reading and loved playing cards. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are: daughter, Carol M. (Joe) Hendrix of Swartz Creek; four grandchildren, Michael Austin, Jennifer Austin, Ryan (Jessica) Hendrix, Tara (Cyndi) Hendrix; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Bryan, Brandon, and Rilee and two great-grandchildren, Finley and Sebastian on their way!; sister, Patsy Augustyn; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; son, Gary Lee Austin; daughter-in-law, Julie Austin; five brothers, Dale, Jack, Steve, Larry and Ronnie; sister, Arlene Gumtow; and her dog, Princess.
